Brien Burroughs The "SECURITY" screening at the 18th Film Arts Festival was well attended and received. Brien and his friends were standing in front of the theater before the screening smoking, talking and waiting. Stopped to say hello to all when Brien introduced me to his mother. As I talked with her it forced me to | wonder what her
impression of the film would be. This was around 8pm and the screening
was about an hour away. As more people arrived for the show it seemed
as though things were going to be ok.
Becky was in the mix and seemed fine. Gerardo Merino (Little G) was all over the place. Brien and Gerardo were obviously very nervous. Moved into the lobby as the Cuban film ended. The doors closed for a few minutes and the audience settled in and everyone raced to get seating. The house filled, doors closed, the FAF rental manager introduced Gail Silva who introduced Brien and the film. Brien spoke for a moment or two then let it roll. The re-worked open helped and the show has improved to a full blown feature. The audience liked the material and it was the first time that the humor and emotion rang through in his independent style for me. Many times Brien had said to me and others that "the close will make you cry". When I looked around he just might have made it. |
